3. Put all toys down in family room
4. Clean out the coffeee table/chest (this is an if I have time item because it can wait)
5. Dust
6. Wipte down walls and baseboards
7. Move furniture and vacumn uinder it.
8. Clean under chair and sofa cushions
9. Sort and organize dvds
10, Clear our and store American decor items
11. Put out fall decor (A FUN one!)
I'll be working this week along with the House + Holidays Plan which is starting this week in Week One: Planning and Paperwork Week!!!
Welcome to Month by Month:
This blog is my own little version of organization central. We touch on just about every aspect of home, family, and holiday organization here. It is my hope that by blogging my experiences, I can grow as an individual and perhaps inspire others to try new things and think about everyday life a little differently. So please join us in organizing for life every month of the year!

Blogging the HGP Journey
Quick update on the first week before moving forward. I managed to mark off FOUR things this week. Not a perfect run by any means but hey FOUR are better than nothing. Each week I always look back on previous weeks and see if there are still items I might be able to get to. So there is till hope!
Here's what I completed:
1. Went over all lists
2. Completed my baking list (made choice on cookies)
3. Created a master ingedients list for baking.
4. Weeded the flower beds in front
Here's what I'll keep trying to work in:
1. Sweep front porch
2. Wipe down siding near entry way
3. Put away bike
4. Put out mums on porach
5. Get new mat
6. Fix front porch light
I'm sure I will do these because most are quick and easy. I already priced the porch light now I just need to buy it and get it installed! Good Luck everyone...now onto Week Two!

Aug. 26-Holiday Grand Plan: List Week
Week One....the adventure begins. I've worked holiday plans with differing levels of success for about ten years now! Last year while I didn't manage to complete or even follow very closely I still manged prbably one of my most organized Christmases ever! How I'm not even sure. Christmas Eve was a GREAT day, spent playing with my grandson and relaxing. All of the food for Christmas Eve dinner was ready and organized. The elves were hiding all over the house when Evan arrived! Late in the afternoon we started cooking and by the time family and friends arrived the house was smelling yummy. My heart felt happy! We enjoyed a fun Candy Cane Hunt, watched a movie, chatted and ate a feast. It felt like the Christmas Eve I have always longed for! Then...oops...heading to the car for Christmas Eve church service I fell and tore my rotator cuff (didn't know that at the time just knew it HURT). However because presents were wrapped and in the gift closet, stocking stuffers were sorted and in individual bags, and breakfast was at least planned, I managed just fine with some help from my family! That being said....It's a PERFECT example of why being organized and prepared pays off!!
So I'm hoping I've started a trend....success breeds success....so I'm all ready to start working on my home and holiday plans! I think even when I don't accomplish everything, every little bit helps and it also keeps it foremost in my mind so things get ticked off my lists!
It's Week One: List Week! The cleaning focus in the Front Porch and the organizing/holiday prep is making lists. I have a lot of my lists already started. I usually set them up in January every year but it is time to update and see exactly where I stand! Also because September is Baking Month at Magical Holiday Home I will make decisions about holiday baking this week....its always so hard to do,...so many yummy recipes!
Cheers! I'll try to update during the week, how I'm doing but the priority is on DOING the plan not blogging it....so if time is a factor....you'll know why you don't hear from me!!

Holiday Grand Plan: Week One
Week One of the Holiday Grand Plan focuses on Lists and the Front Porch. Well I'm a list maker so the list part was pretty much done before the week started. I have a small front porch so I also included my two front flower beds in my Week One plans.
I'm making good progress (yes I know the week is technically over)! I still plan on finishing off about three or four things on the list tomorrow but I am happy with my week one progress. I manged to week and transplant plants, paint a wire basket for pumpkins and gourds, put away some pots and gardening things that had been "hanging out" on the front porch, and put in some new solar lights. Tomorrow I will finish up by mopping, cleaning cobwebs and washing the siding on the front of the house. I will also look through fall decor for two signs/wreaths or some fall items to hang on the two hooks that are on the front porch! I still need to find a new door mat. All in all...a SUCESSFUL WEEK ONE!!
